Hi. Boy, am I exhausted. First I woke up early to go to work at 5:30. Then I didn't take a nap before my bday dinner before heading to the airport. After I checked in my baggage, the guy told me that my 21:35 was delayed until 22:45. My flight was 9 hours long. We were supposed to sleep on the plane. It took me awhile to get some sleep. At least I watched an episode of The Big Bang Theory before trying to sleep. The airline didn't have any movies that I wanted to watch. I suppose I drifted in and out of sleep some time during the flight since I kept checking my watch, and it kept advancing forward.
Anyways, after we landed, it was already 14:30 (local time) so I knew I wouldn't make it to my b&b on my previously arranged time. Getting to the immigration line was an adventure in itself. We landed in Terminal 5 but I had to take the tram to the place. When i got to the immigration line, it was soooo packed. I waited about 2 hours before I was in front of the line. By then I was running 2 hours behind and praying that no one would steal my bag at luggage claim since it was probably rotating around for quite a while. So now you know that flying into London Heathrow is a long waiting experience. After I got my luggage I headed out and found the train ticket counter. I got an express ticket from Heathrow to Paddington station (£19) and then I had to buy a separate ticket to go from Paddington station to Bath Spa station (£29.60). It takes 90 minutes to get to Bath Spa. Note: you can get free wifi on the Heathrow Express.
Once at Bath Spa station, I headed out to look for my b&b, Apple Tree Guesthouse, which has a good price of £65/night for a single room. It was hard finding the place at first, but a quick glance at the map and I was all good. Bath is a small city (with pop. of ~85000 people) that a lot of places are easy to find. After finding the b&b and I was all settled (~19:30), I decided to wander around Bath and find something to eat before it started getting really dark.
The streets were crowded because the rugby game had just finished and everyone was heading out to the pubs. I think I wandered around most of the city center before heading back (less than an hour). I headed over to
the pub (The Royal Oak) for some dinner and am now retiring for bed since it has been a really long day.
Tomorrow's agenda: Mad Max tour of Cotswold.
Sounds tiring! I am glad you made it there safe and sound!
